MANASQUAN, N.J. (September 21, 2016) - Manasquan Bank presented Algonquin Arts Theatre with a $25,000 check this month to sponsor the Main Street theatre's 2016-17 Broadway Series. The Broadway Series gets started on September 30 as "Damn Yankees" opens for a two weekend run. The Tony Award-winning musical follows baseball fanatic Joe Boyd, who trades his soul to the Devil for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees.

Light, fast-paced and devilishly clever, "Damn Yankees" is a home-run hit featuring all-American subject matter, an irreverent sense of humor and memorable musical numbers including "Whatever Lola Wants" and "Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo."

The Broadway Series presented by Manasquan Bank will be entirely produced by Algonquin Arts Theatre for the first time. Following "Damn Yankees," the series continues with productions of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" immediately following Thanksgiving, Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park" in January, and "A Raisin in the Sun" in February. The series concludes with a pair of musicals in the spring, starting with Alan Janes' "BUDDY: The Buddy Holly Story" and concluding in May with Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Carousel" in April.

"At Manasquan Bank, we are proud to continue our support to our cultural partners, Algonquin Arts Theatre, for their commitment to deliver high quality Arts programs to the local area," said James Vaccaro, Chairman, President and CEO of Manasquan Bank. "Like the Algonquin, we, at Manasquan Bank, are dedicated to the provision of the highest quality products and services to those same local communities."

The 2016-17 season marks the penultimate year of a four year, $100,000 commitment from Manasquan Bank to sponsor the Broadway Series. The funds support the Broadway Series productions as well as the operation of the historic 78-year old venue located in downtown Manasquan. Manasquan Bank is the original title sponsor for the theatre's marquee series, which features Broadway-style musicals and plays.

"Manasquan Bank's support of our Broadway Series and the theatre's programs across the board allow Algonquin Arts Theatre to continue to bring high quality performances and educational opportunities to Manasquan and the surrounding area," said Algonquin Arts Theatre Executive Director Pamela Ward.

"I've said before that great neighbors make communities thrive, and we are thankful for Manasquan Bank's commitment to the arts and supporting local theatre."
