MANASQUAN, NJ � Internationally renowned Irish traditional band Dervish brings its energetic folk sound to Algonquin Arts Theatre as the group launches its annual U.S. tour on March 3 at 8 p.m.

Credited with paving new roads and expanding the limits of Irish/Celtic music during 23 years together, Dervish brings together six supremely talented musicians that mix the sounds of the mandolin, flute, fiddle, accordion, bodhran and bouzouki with the beguiling voice of Cathy Jordan.

From the Great Wall of China to the Holy Land, Dervish has performed to sold-out auditoriums and grown both internationally and in Ireland to become one of the most liked Irish bands. During the last decade their accolades include selection as the first Irish band to perform at the greatest music festival in the world, "Rock in Rio," to an audience of 240,000.

In Manasquan on March 3 they are expected to play to a capacity audience as their performance continues to sell fast. Tickets are available by calling 732-528-9211, visiting algonquinarts.org or stopping by the Algonquin Arts Theater Box Office at 173 Main Street in Manasquan from 12-6 p.m. on weekdays and from 12-4 p.m. on Saturdays. The cost is $38 for adults, $36 for seniors and $25 for students. Beer & wine will be available at a cash bar.

Dervish has recorded 10 studio albums, most recently taking some time away from performing to record "From Stage to Stage" in 2010. After more than two decades together that has seen them share center stage with a variety of top names in rock such as James Brown, Oasis, Sting, REM and Beck, the group continues to maintain popularity and relevance. Last year Dervish was featured on Garrison Keillor�s iconic radio program "A Prairie Home Companion."

Dervish is Brian McDonagh (mandola, mandolin), Liam Kelly (flute & whistles), Tom Morrow (fiddle, viola), Shane Mitchell (accordion), Michael Holmes (bouzouki) and Jordan (vocals, bodhran & bones).

McDonagh, Kelly, Mitchell and Holmes recorded an album as The Boys of Sligo in 1989 and then began playing together in the local pub scene under the name Dervish, which was chosen as it related to any group of spiritual people who become enraptured by music.

Two years later, Jordan, a singer, musician and composer, joined the group along with fiddle player Shane McAleer. The band released its debut album "Harmony Hill" in 1992 to widespread critical acclaim and the momentum of that album catapulted the group to the forefront of traditional Irish music. The only change to the band from the original album's lineup was on fiddle, where McAleer was replaced by Irish senior fiddle champion Morrow.

In conjunction with their cross-country tour that ends in the San Francisco Bay Area on March 24, Jordan is releasing her debut solo album 'All The Way Home' on March 13 via Blix Street Records
