MANASQUAN, NJ This Sunday when Marlene VerPlanck sings Cole Porter and Irving Berlin love songs at Algonquin Arts Theatre, concert goers will be hearing a voice that they might not realize they already know.

VerPlanck was first heard by the masses anonymously, singing famous jingles including "Mm-mm good, mm-mm good, that's what Campbell's Soups are ."

This Sunday at 3 p.m., she'll be joined on stage by The Diva Jazz Trio for a special Valentine's weekend concert that will include the most romantic songs of all including "So In Love," "Let's Face The Music and Dance," "Be Careful It's My Heart," and "I've Got You Under My Skin."

"The songs tell wonderful romantic stories," VerPlanck said. "I'm hoping the audience will appreciate and relate to my interpretations. I know they will love the songs.

"I'm also excited to have a fabulous trio accompanying me. Each one is a virtuoso on their instrument. You've got to hear them to believe them."

Tickets are $27 for adults, $25 for seniors and $18 for students. Tickets will be available at the door one hour before the show or in advance by calling 732-528-9211, visiting algonquinarts.org or stopping by the Algonquin Arts Theater Box Office at 173 Main Street in Manasquan from 12-6 p.m. on weekdays and from 12-4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Each woman in attendance will receive a free rose courtesy of Bouquets to Remember of Manasquan.

VerPlanck got her start singing with Charlie Spivak's and Tex Beneke's big bands, and became one of the busiest studio singers in the country, singing backup for such legends as Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Mel Torme, Blood Sweat & Tears and even KISS.

Her career includes several solo albums in which she has stuck to her guns, paying loving care to the great standards and new songs from the finest composers while ignoring mediocre pop tunes.

"We know our songs are safe in the hands of Marlene VerPlanck, and she will sing them better than anyone else," said songwriter Hugh Martin ("Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas").

Appearances at Carnegie Hall, Michael's Pub and the Rainbow Room brought rave reviews, and national TV shows, including "Entertainment Tonight," "The Today Show" and CBS's "Sunday Morning," featured profiles of the popular singer.

She continues to perform across North America and Europe, while a growing roster of solo CDs continues to win critical acclaim. The albums feature exciting arrangements scored by her husband, Billy VerPlanck, with accompaniment by many of America's finest musicians.

Algonquin Arts Theatre was founded in 1992 as a nonprofit organization that uses the arts to provide cultural enrichment and educational enhancement of the highest quality for Central New Jersey residents.
