Algonquin Arts and outdoor movies have become a summer tradition at the Shore and the popular series returns to Algonquin Arts beginning July 7. Humans take a back seat in these celebrated films featuring some of your favorite characters from the animal kingdom. Among them: a whale named Willy, Elsa the lioness, some amazing penguins, the lovable Babe, and, of course, Lassie! Bring your favorite beach chair. No rain dates.

August 25 Lassie Come Home (1943) Runtime: 1 hr 29 min The first in the series of "Lassie" movies stars Roddy McDowall, Donald Crisp, Elsa Lanchester, and Elizabeth Taylor. Sam Carraclough sells the collie to a rich family, much to the dismay of both Lassie, and Sam's young son Joe. Lassie misses Joe so much that she attempts a dangerous, adventure-filled cross-country trip back home. Will the boy and his dog be reunited? |
